Who we are
Kavacito is the kava bar and matcha cafe kiosk under the trees at Upper Buena Vista, Miami, open since September 2, 2026. Here is who pours, and why kava and matcha share one window.
Kavacito is a kava bar and matcha cafe that opened on September 2, 2026 as a wooden kiosk under the trees at Upper Buena Vista, the garden village of micro boutiques and open-air cafes off NE 2nd Ave in Miami. We pour ceremonial matcha in five flavors, kava by the ounce, chaga, reishi cacao and ube, and we bake the sweets in house. We have poured over 800 cups since opening day.
Why kava and matcha together
Kava is a root from the South Pacific islands, drunk for the calm it brings and the conversation around the shell. Ours is noble kava, the traditional root strained in water and hand prepared in house. Matcha is ceremonial grade green tea from Japan, hand harvested, and we whisk it by hand to order in front of you. Both are social drinks with no alcohol in them, and both ask you to sit down for a while.
Matcha is the morning cup, before the office or a yoga run. Kava is the afternoon chill out. We make the mushroom elixirs for a brain boost and the ube for stress relief and antioxidants. Every drink is made to order. That is the whole idea of the kiosk: a place in Miami where the day slows down.
How Kavacito started
Kavacito started from a love of entrepreneurship, wellness and connection. We built it to serve Miami’s wellness community and to partner with events and wellness collaborators, and the window opened on September 2, 2026. Friends and the community showed up on opening day, and a guest told us it was the “Best matcha I’ve tried in Miami.”
The name is a Latin twist on cafecito, born in Miami and made with passion and culture.
Why Upper Buena Vista
Miami New Times named Upper Buena Vista the Best Mall in its Best of Miami awards for 2024. The village has events every weekend and a farmers market every Sunday, and the Design District is a short walk away.
Who is behind the window
Kavacito was founded by Mohamed Moussa, who goes by Mo, Founder, CEO and CFO, and Mia Weltzien, Founder, CEO and CMO. Mia is the one to write to about events and collaborations.
Our wellness community
Since opening we have joined the Everage Longevity event on September 22 and poured matcha for the Ima Yoga open house in Miami Beach on October 3, photographed by World Red Eye. Next we join Ethera Alchemy for a peptides and wellness event on Saturday, October 24, and we bring cacao and chaga to the BLOOM Retreat with Breathe and Bloom at Sila Miami on October 25. We are planning evenings around our fire pit for the community too. Studios and retreats book the bar for their guests, with drinks and a full setup priced on guest count and event size. Write to Mia at kavacitollc@gmail.com.
