Work at Kavacito

Kavacito is hiring baristas for the kiosk at Upper Buena Vista in Miami. You will pour ceremonial matcha and kava, run the window, and look after the people who sit under the trees. Every drink is made to order. Experience helps, kindness matters more. The job pays $15 an hour plus tips, for 30 to 40 hours a week, and you need to be 16 or older. What the shifts look like

• Greet guests at the window and take orders on the point of sale.
• Hand whisk ceremonial matcha to order in front of each guest, to a consistent standard, and build the five flavored matchas with our house organic syrups.
• Prepare kava the traditional way, straining the root in water in house, then serve it in shells and cups, explain it plainly to first-timers and keep to our house rule of 18 and over for kava.
• Make the chaga, reishi cacao and ube drinks to recipe.
• Keep the station, utensils and fridge clean and sanitized, and restock between rushes.
• Look after the seating under the canopy and the guests at our events.

What we look for

• Friendly, reliable, and happy to talk to strangers about what is in the cup.
• Attention to detail: the same drink tastes the same every time.
• Weekend and evening availability. We are open Wednesday to Sunday, and weekends are the busiest days.
• Comfortable standing through a shift and lifting supplies.
• Barista, cafe or kava bar experience is a plus, not a requirement. We train.
• No food handler certificate needed to apply. Kavacito provides the Florida food handler certificate after you are hired.

Pay and hours

• $15 an hour plus tips.
• 30 to 40 hours a week.
• Minimum age 16.
